Libraries Rock! Shirts

Summer Reading Shirts are here!  Yay!
This year, you don't just get to pick up your shirt, you get to do an art project with it!

Because of some last minute changes to the design* we have to add our own color to make it clear that the splotches on the "Libraries Rock" letters are paint splatters and not anything else.

So we all get to do an art project!  There are fabric pens and paint on the table by the window in the kitchen, as well as a sign with some instructions.  Take a minute to sit and add some color to your shirt!

Some tips:

  • The pens are a little less messy, but the fabric soaks up the ink like crazy and the colors won't be a bright
  • With the other paints, the thicker you put it on, the better.  When it dries it shows up less. Two coats might work better.
  • There's a piece of navy card-stock with samples of the different applications.  It doesn't translate exactly to the black t-shirt, but it may give you some idea what the paints will look like.  Feel free to practice on this before your shirt if you're nervous.
  • If you push down on the tip of the pens, ink will pour out and it will be very messy.
  • Don't worry about staying in the lines or anything. Have fun. Be colorful.  Share your art because that is also fun!

*The design without color looks like bullet holes.  This is less than ideal for several reasons.  For some reason this wasn't caught until it was too late to reprint the t-shirts, so now we get to do art.  Hooray for art!
